Sonoma State University's Super Kids Camp was founded in 1992 and is an annual camp that hosts over a hundred campers per day during an eight-week program. There is an eight-to-one camper-to-counselor ratio. We welcome campers ages five-eleven and group them into  littles  (age 5-6),  middles  (age 7-9), and  bigs  (age 10-11)  to allow campers to  make friends with other peers their age.

THEME WEEKS

Our campers never get bored of the same old routine at camp! Weekly themes make it possible for our super kids to expect fun and exciting activities every time they come to camp.

LESSON PLAN

As Sonoma State University students, we understand that children often forget much of what they've learned during the school year, which is why we emphasize learning at Super Kids Camp. Our counselors work hard to create and teach forty-five minute lessons in art, science, drama, and sports that are age appropriate for each group. With our schedule, we can ensure your child will get to experience each of these subjects.

ROCK CLIMBING

Every Monday, campers experience the adrenaline rush of rock climbing on the fabulous SSU rock climbing wall. All counselors are belay certified. There are other activities such as bracelet making, coloring, and reading for those campers who don't want to climb.

FIELD TRIPS

Every Wednesday, campers go on a field trip, which usually coincides with our weekly theme. Field trips depart around eleven in the morning and include a bus ride to the trips location. Campers need to bring their lunch and water on the bus as well as wear their Super Kids Camp shirt, which is given to them the morning of their first field trip. Campers usually return by three that day, depending on traffic.

FUN FRIDAYS

Super kids campers are treated to special surprises put on by our directors. These events usually go with the week's theme. Past events included, inflatable obstacle courses, treasure hunts, and visits from the Big Cat Show!

POOL DAYS

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, campers can swim in the Gymnasium pool located near the Wolves Den at Sonoma State University. Our counselors and directors are CPR and AED certified and are in the pool with the campers to maximize safety, as well as two lifeguards on duty. If you don't feel that your child is a strong swimmer, we encourage you to bring a life jacket from home, which they will then have to wear in the pool. Our lifeguards also offer a swim test for those campers who would like to swim in the deep end. Campers need to be able to swim from one side of the pool to the other, with no help to pass the test. Retakes are offered on the next pool day.
